The above is a shot of Urlesque’s Kelly Reeves and Eliot Glazer “networking” at Urlesque HQ. It’s also a perfect example of what we want: Your mission is to photograph people or groups of people in which no one is actually interacting but instead are busy looking at their electronic devices. The more people, the better.

Hi Guys,

I’ve been comtemplating putting together a DVD of my short films. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do since the day DVD-R drives came out. And yet, I still haven’t “released” one. In fact a year or two ago, I had a pre-order for a DVD collection of shorts….and then it didn’t happen and I had to track down everyone and refund their money. (Lame!)

Anyways, it’s about time I did one. But, the question is: would you buy it?

My idea is this:

Before Summer, release a DVD called:
“BLACKMAIL MATERIAL: Short Films from 1998-2008”

Essentially this would include most of my short films from my college and grad school days. Plus, I’d dip into my (embarrassing) collection of high school material (maybe even middle school!). Annnd of course, all of the short film stuff would have bonus features like outtakes, etc. The DVD would be packed to the gills with content. And perhaps drunk commentary tracks.

Anyways, I’d like to do it for REAL and not make the DVDs myself, which means I’d have to order them in bulk up front. (It also means that it would look professional.) I think I might start a kickstarter campaign in a little bit and if I reach a certain amount of donators, I’ll start work on making the DVD. I also think doing kickstarter is a good idea for me, because it holds me legally responsible to COMPLETE THE DAMN THING.

Regardless - Would you buy a DVD of all my crap up until TUB? (TUB will have it’s own separate tricked out DVD much later in the year) I was thinking of charging $10.00 and that INCLUDES delivery. (so figure it’s more like $7 or so) Again, the DVDs would be professionally made with full color artwork.

UPDATE: The DVD of shorts would include an extended trailer for “TUB” and if you pledged $16, you would be guaranteed a copy of TUB when it’s released later in 2010/early 2011. (Which would be at a reduced price, since the TUB dvd would sell more than that with shipping, etc. involved)

I’m essentially stealing the release plan that Don Hertzfeldt at Bitterfilms.com has used. (He released his early films as one collection, then did suped up special editions of his later work.)

TUB is playing the Alamo Drafthouse at SXSW!

I’ve heard so much about this theater. Look how pretty it is! Wowie Kazowie. SXSW released their screening schedule today and we got a bunch of great late night screening times for it!

PS. Anyone have a place to crash in Austin, Texas for SXSW? I’m thinking I’ll be there on the night of March 11th till March 19th. Then, fuck it, I’m going to Los Angeles for a few days to see some pals after that. Think I’ll try that whole “traveling” thing I missed out on all these years. Email me if you can help out! I am lacking in the whole funds department, so any help is appreciated.

It’s true! In March, I’ll be heading out to Texas to show TUB at SXSW. Even better: it was selected to play in the midnight shorts program! PERFECT time slot!
