A glimmer of hope on Craigslist.
Since I’m moving to LA, I have been selling pretty much everything I own on craigslist. And it has been trying to say the least. While a lot of people are fine. There are a lot of flakes, scam artists, jerk-bags, and just moronic people on that site.
But, all of that has been worth it for this latest sale.
I received an email from someone’s dad about the film equipment I had for sale. That his son was interested in all of it and that he wanted to talk to me more. Turns out his son is Josh Warner. Turns out Josh Warner is a high school student and an IndyMogul.com fan who traveled an hour and change just to see TUB’s premiere in NYC. In fact, I got to meet Josh after the screening and we got a picture together (as seen above!)
Of course, I really wanted to make it happen. As I much rather give him a deal than sell all of this stuff individually. And I really want to see what he’ll do with all of this stuff!
Not only is he getting all my lighting kit stuff, tripod, boom pole, etc. He’s also getting ALL of the movie props I’ve acquired in NYC. Stuff that I’ve used on all of my Indy Mogul shows, even TUB. Fake gun! Wigs! Costumes!
Oh, and of course a fog machine and fog juice. Because, after all: NO FILMMAKER can go without that.
Anyways-
Hope you enjoy, Josh! And I better see a ton of movies from you.
Your pal,
Bobby
Congratulations to the Winners of our “VOTE REEL GOOD SHOW” Campaign Contest!
Check out the above video for who won. Or check out ALL the entries here.
I was only going to have one winner, because to be honest, I didn’t think many people would submit something to a cancelled show. BUT - you guys proved me wrong and I’ve decided to buy some goodies as a reward:
All 3 Runner Ups will receive:
A Custom REEL GOOD SHOW MUG.
(Erik had made me one of these as a parting gift…now you will be one of the only few people in the world who own one. I’m also going to customize it with a note from me to you on it.)
A signed Sundance-Edition TUB Poster!
Our Grand Prize Winner receives:
Everything above + the original (ONLY ONE IN EXISTENCE) Reel Good Show Sign!
Congrats again guys, I wish I could give you guys more for your efforts!
ALSO: Since we won the Webby this year, I’m going to hold true to my pledge (If I win the Webby I’ll do a new show)…Expect a new web show in late Summer on TheBobbyTube.com. If you haven’t subscribed to my personal youtube page…now’s the time sucka!
Slashfilm.com writer Devindra Hardawar mentioned my short “TUB” in the latest /Film podcast. Suffice to say, it made my day. Thank you, sir.
You can hear the snippet of him talking about TUB above or listen to the whole episode here.
(Also, Devindra - I hope you know I’m going to quote you on the next poster…”Sort of brilliant.”)
WE DID IT! - REEL GOOD SHOW Wins People’s Voice Award for “Best Variety Show” at the Webbys!
Wow - talk about a nail biter, folks. That was a tough win for us! Thank you so much for your vote! And thanks to everyone who submitted campaign videos. Seriously - you guys have been amazing.
This marks the second time in a row one of my shows has won a People’s Voice Webby award in the Variety Show category. It was a huge honor to win last year and I can’t believe we did it again this year. I owe it all to your unwavering support.
I promised that if we won a Webby, I would return to some sort of web show this summer on my personal site: TheBobbyTube.com. Well, folks. I’m a man of my word…
PS. Check out the press release Next New Networks just released about the Webby win!
PPS. The winners of the campaign video contest have been announced here.
TUB has received Faculty Honors at the 2010 Columbia Film Festival!
It also won the Audience Award!
In other news, the 4th feature film script I’ve ever written is complete. 98 pages in 29 days.
This is without a doubt the spiritual cousin to “TUB”. I’m really excited about it. I think by the time I move to LA in June, I should have something that I can hand out and say, “want to make this movie?”
If the answer is “no”, I’ll make it anyway. It’s time to make a feature. I don’t care if I have to raise all the money myself or take out more loans. God knows that was the only way “TUB” got made.
Today is the last day of voting.
We have till 11:59pm EST today to close the gap.
Please vote “Reel Good Show” for Best Variety Show at the 2010 Webby awards.
Why you’re at it vote for Backyard FX for Best DIY show!
